As one of the most experienced typewriter poets in Chicago, I have written more than 4,000 poems on my more than 30 vintage typewriters. To me, these impromptu odes, these sudden sonnets are more than mere transactions, more than mere pieces of paper.
Each time I get to write typewriter poetry for a stranger, whether at a bustling arts festival, on a moonlit street corner, at a local middle school or at an upscale gala, I am gobsmacked by the shared humanity, the mutual oomph of existence and the synchronicity of this seemingly random encounter.
In 2019, while working on a shared poetry venture, I began to call our clients “muses.” That’s because you are truly my inspiration and an endless reminder that everything is poetry.
I’m here to offer commissions, event appearances, workshops and, more importantly, to help make every moment shimmer more poetic with my theatrical personality and my love of typewriter poetry. It’s my mission to make typewriter poetry and performance art more accessible and approachable in Chicago and beyond.
I have been featured on WGN Morning News, WGN Spotlight, FOX 32 Chicago, NBC Chicago, BlockClub Chicago and more. Do you have a vision you’d like brought to life? I’ll tailor a poetic experience that suits you perfectly. After all, I’m Everyone’s Type.

I came to Chicago in 2009 to pursue my passion for performance art and poetry. I was lucky enough to attend Second City’s conservatory, music improv conservatory, and writing program, which gave me the improvisational skills I find so useful in the spontaneous art of typewriter poetry.
After spending a decade writing and performing professionally, I started volunteering with Poems While You Wait to write typewriter poetry for strangers, and I stumbled into an art form that was made for me.
A monthly performer at the Green Mill’s iconic Uptown Poetry Slam, I feel that poetry and performance are inseparable. When I started reading my typewriter poems aloud to my muses, I started connecting with them deeply through each word and phrase.
...I’ve cried with strangers about lost loved ones, shouted typewritten words of inspiration from atop a park bench, performed epic odes to family dogs and improvised poems as a haunted doll, a dying dove and a piece of pizza.
I soon started taking typewriter poetry to Clark and Berwyn in Andersonville, Lincoln Square, Logan Square Farmer’s Market, Englewood and beyond. Then, WGN covered one of my projects and since then, it’s been a whirlwind of opportunities, for which I will long be grateful.
Typewriter poetry has become more than just a full-time job for me; it is my passion. I now perform at street fests, tea parties, weddings, jewelry stores, children’s museums, engagement parties.
Poetry pops up moment by moment, even when we aren’t looking. I can’t wait to help you find your poem.
